WE HAVE BEGUN HOLDING FOOT CARE CLINICS!!
While we work to make our Mobile Clinic a reality, we are holding on-site foot care clinics at homeless shelters in the Erie area. We were blessed to be able to work with The Upper Room to hold our inaugural clinic on March 30, 2021. Fifteen individuals were seen by our UPMC-affiliated podiatriasts and residents and left with new socks, boots and other necessities.
Harvest912 is dedicated to making a lasting impact in the lives of homeless individuals and in the future of our community through our initiatives. Our mission is driven by a singular focus - providing shoes, socks, foot care, and spiritual support to those in need. Our vision is to expand the Harvest912 outreach to other communities and change more lives one sole at a time. Learn more about our initiatives and get involved yourself.
Providing basic necessities
Backpacks were our first outreach initiative and continue to be an integral part of our efforts. We fill backpacks with new shoes, socks, hygiene kits, blankets, seasonally necessary items such as hats, gloves, and scarves in the colder months, and a NIV bible. This outreach was designed to encourage people to step outside their comfort zones and reach out in a very personal way to someone in need. It was inspired by our own spirit-filled interaction and has expanded to members of our faith community and to the broader community. We distribute backpacks individually through our church family as well as through our mobile outreach. In addition, we are able to offer our complete backpacks to interested organizations at a very reasonable cost. We rely on donations and/or in-kind assistance to keep our backpacks and supplies stocked. You can help with donations or you can purchase backpacks for your organization.

Help where it's needed most
Almost immediately after starting our backpack outreach, we recognized the need for a much more comprehensive program designed to bring foot care as well as backpacks to homeless individuals where they are. We know that assessment and basic foot care can address many common problems. Additionally, more serious health concerns can be identified and referrals can be made. Homeless individuals are less likely to access traditional health care settings, and COVID has made it even more difficult to use typical service delivery options. Our goal for 2021 and our larger vision for mobile outreach is to purchase and equip a mini-bus with foot hygiene and assessment stations, identify and mobilize volunteer medical personnel, and bring our personal outreach to locations where the need is greatest.
